Prenatal & Postpartum Pilates
Prenatal and Postpartum Pilates integrates the work of Joseph Pilates with recommendations from ACOG, the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecology. Prenatal Pilates helps women prepare physically for childbearing, delivery and beyond, but should not be used in place of a Childbirth Preparation Course.

Focus on strengthening the pelvic floor helps with childbirth and bladder control. Deep abdominal conditioning prepares the transverse abdominal muscles for pushing during labor and a speedy recovery.

Breath work and relaxation helps with centering throughout pregnancy and during labor. Posture assessment keeps mothers-to-be stronger as the belly grows and after birth. Overall body conditioning and toning keeps the body image positive after birth and aids in a speedier recovery.

From correcting rounded shoulders and sunken sternums to strengthening the back and elongating the spine; from lifting your infant car seat to carrying your child; from alleviating back and sacroliliac discomfort to addressing diastasis; from reshaping your body to discovering how the old you is now a beautiful mother – this work has it all!

Prenatal & Postpartum GYROTONIC®  Exercise

GYROTONIC® movement is the ultimate exercise system for the expectant mother and adapts to all stages of pregnancy. Provided you have permission from your health care practitioner, the gentle, circular movements and low-impact exercises assist the prenatal and postpartum body in many beneficial ways.

The GYROTONIC EXPANSION SYSTEM® helps the prenatal mother stay ahead of her belly’s need to grow by opening and creating space between the diaphragm and pelvic floor, leaving more room for both baby and the abdominal organs.

The system addresses lower abdominal tension, which can assist in the prevention of round ligament discomfort, stretch marks, and diastasis recti (abdominal separation).

GYROTONIC® aids in the relief of low back pain, constipation, and energizes the body to combat fatigue. The active use of breath helps in relaxation, increases blood circulation and oxygen to the womb, and deepens the connection with one’s own body and the growing baby inside. Upper body strengthening prepares mothers-to-be for carrying their children in their arms, as traction assists in the relief of upper body tension in new mothers. Moreover, regular GYROTONIC® exercise throughout pregnancy helps to strengthen and support the pelvis, aiding in bladder control, stamina for the birthing process, and a speedy postpartum recovery.
